More than a cinema
FACT are an arts organisation located in the heart of central Liverpool. They combine art and technology launching flagship exhibitions in the region working with renowned artists from around the world. They also have a wide and varied community focus as well as an in-house cinema.
Early user studies showed many in the area see FACT solely as a cinema. Our role was to showcase their art first and foremost, shout about the exhibitions whilst giving cinema goers a quick and easy journey to the Picturehouse section of the website. FACT are a bold brand, championing the need for art and culture in the city. We wanted to embody this bold approach with an edgy, no-nonsense design. Despite the bold colours and large uncompromosing typography the website tests well for usability and overall ease of use.
Using a UX led growth model we prototyped the website, validating internally and with a select group of user testers. This created the initial Minimum Valuable Product which has since been improved on again through a design sprint process.
